Rodger Allen Mack
Modernist Abstract Sculpture

About the Item

A wonderful large modernist abstract bronze sculpture with geometric shapes by American artist Rodger Allen Mack (1938-2002). Mack was born in Barberton, Ohio, graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art, and Cranbrook Academy. He moved to Syracuse in 1968 where he was head of the sculpture department at Syracuse University for over 34 years. He was the first director of the School of Art and design at Syracuse University and was instrumental in the growth and development of the national reputation of the sculpture program. He worked with sculptor Anthony Caro to establish the world-renowned Triangle Artists Workshop which was held in Pine Plains, N.Y., Barcelona, Spain and London, England. He has had solo exhibitions in the Sid Deutsch Gallery, and Oscar Krasner Gallery in New York City, and his work is in numerous public and private collections both nationally and internationally. This unsigned modernist bronze with a nice verdigris patina would make the centerpiece of any art collection. Includes a letter of provenance verifying acquisition from a western MA gallery.
