About the Item
Vasa Mihich is a renowned Los Angeles-based artist known for his sleek, colorful and captivating acrylic sculptures. He waas a Senior Professor of Design at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where taught color theory for many years. For nearly 50 years he has been working in acrylics, whether on canvas or through sculpture.
His sculptures, with their different geometric planes suspended in acrylic, are dynamic and endlessly fascinating. Caviar20 is excited to be offering this early and evocative desktop sculpture.
“Tropical Prism” features Vasa's signature palette of tangerine with vibrant tones of emerald and aqua. As with the best of Mihich's work, the geometric form and color distort as the viewer moves around the sculpture. The sharp layers of complementary color slant and expand when viewed from the side, revealing a surprising illumination of saffron.
This minimalist sculpture is a paradigm of Mihich’s ongoing investigations of light, color, and negative space. These key optical characteristics are present throughout his oeuvre.
After mostly dedicating his career to education, Mihich continues to be focused on his studio practice in Los Angeles.

- AlatBy Kosso EloulLocated in Toronto, OntarioKosso Eloul (1920-1995) is one of our favorite sculptors and an important contributor to public art in Toronto. In addition to the numerous public sculptures in Toronto by Eloul, his works can be found in many other prominent open spaces around the world, from California to Israel. Most familiar with Eloul associate his work with his signature forms; large brushed aluminum (or steel) angled rectangles. However his earlier work was realized in stone. This fine sculpture, a form that is revisited and eventually created in metal, is made of Jerusalem Stone...Category
