About the Item

In his distinctive abstract style, Hudson's steel sculptures are based on abstract, repetitious forms that extend and contract into harmonious compositions. Working from a cache of abstract shapes, Hudson adjusts scale and proportion, arranging them in different iterations that allow for a visual rhythm to form across works. Inconsistencies and unique moments between works create connections that stretch across two and three-dimensional renderings. Working within the parameters of a selection of melodic shapes and a dynamic fall tone color palette, Hudson’s inspiration from the slippery nature of time takes unexpected turns. Poised and static or threatening to tumble, stacked visual elements in Hudson’s work built upon themselves, harkening back to the memory of languid days past.

  • Two Views Using Light
    By Jason Middlebrook
    Located in Denver, CO
Hudson, NY - based artist Jason Middlebrook. Middlebrook takes inspiration from lived experience and the natural world with his signature hardwood paintings. Familiar yet enigmatic, the sky in its various forms serves as muse in "Skies." Never the same twice, the sky is ever-changing, differing dramatically from place to place and throughout each day. At times seemingly benevolent and at others cruel, the vast sky is in constant diaphanous conversation with the landscape and activity below. Middlebrook’s signature “canvas” of polished cross...
