This artwork is described beautifully by Art critic and curator Salvatore Russo at an exhibition in Uffizi Gallery, Florence 2016 - "Barry Davies, a sculptor able to state the strength of a regal animal as the lion - a spectacular triumph of elegant details and an intrinsic dynamism are the main features of this artwork, homage not only to the world of art, but to the world of nature and its creatures".
As with all Davies' sculptures he strives to portray the perfection in nature. Modelled in clay and cast in bronze this lion stands magnificently on a bronze base. It has been hot patinated using ferric nitrate and finished with a bronze wax.
