In 1940, Antonovici studied in Zagreb with the famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovici, until his arrest by Italian fascists. Antonovici himself survived imprisonment in Germany for his refusal to fight on the side of the Nazis. K.S. Radhakrishnan - Ramp Figure Bronze Sculpture H 12.75 x W 7.5 x D 8.75 inches K.S. Radhakrishnan working with Musui & Maiya, Musui potraits has a hand Rickshaw puller as is still prevalent in few parts of Bengal. The bronze figures are elfin, mischievous, airy, acrobatic, and archaic, delicately balancing on one hand or leg. He renders a sensuous quality to his works by deploying extraordinary body movements of his figures. Radhakrishnan is a distinctive and appealing presence on the modern Indian sculpture scene. He says: “For me bronze works best because it is strong, and brings out the character of my sculptures. Although it takes time, the process also becomes a part of my art form.” Style : K.S Radhakrishnan is one of the most notable among the new generation of sculptors. Like many of his contempories he is a figurative sculptor, but his preference for modelling and bronze casting sets him apart from the rest of them. Over the years, Radhakrishnan has experienced with alternate sculpting mediums, working in molten bronze, beeswax and Plaster of Paris.The physical process of working with the materials becomes a performance in itself. The sculpture is the product of a tactile engagement with his medium. With celebration of sensuality as one of its running themes, his works is at once both intimate and universal in its appeal. A personal commemorative sculpture, with a scale and presence that holds well in natural settings, his work has found permanent home in a number of public collections all over the world. Sorel Etrog (1933 - 2014) is arguably Canada's most famous sculptor. His works can be found in numerous museums and private collections including the Tate, the AGO and LACMA. His public sculptures can be found on iconic corners in Toronto, Montreal, Israel and beyond. The Art Gallery of Ontario organized a major retrospective of his work that ran in 2013. This work is the earliest Etrog sculpture Caviar20 has handled to date. It is from Etrog's debut period and may be one of his first works to be casted. This untitled work aka "Venus Figure" merges two signature elements that Etrog employs or combines frequently - the primitive with modernist figuration. ANTONIUCCI VOLTI "RECLINGING WOMAN" BRONZE, SIGNED, NUMBERED 2/6 VALSUANI FOUNDRY ITALiAN, WORKED IN PARIS, C.1960 6.5 X 18.5 X 10.5 INCHES Antoniucci Volti 1915-1989 Sculptor, painter, and printmaker Antoniucci Volti was born in Albano, Italy, in 1915. His family lived in Italy until 1920 when the family moved to France. Volti studied at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Nice from 1928 to 1920. By 1932 the young artist had won a gold medal for two polychrome bas-reliefs before going to Paris, where he entered the studio of Jean Boucher at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris at the age of only fifteen. After serving in the Second World War, when he was interned as a prisoner of war in Bavaria, he returned in poor health to Paris, only to find his studio destroyed. From 1947 he showed work at various Paris Salons and, in 1954 and 1955 at the Brussels and Antwerp Biennales. In 1957 a retrospective of his work was organized at the Museum Rodin in Paris.
