Necklace
Snowman is a white-gold necklace that comes with a display stand in the form of a unique spattered paint can and a yellow plastic pompom. The snowman has been a central theme in Hume’s work since 1996, when he built a snowman in England’s Peak District and dyed it rosy pink with food coloring, later turning the image into a series of photographs and a painting. His first snowman sculpture, Back of a Snowman (black), appeared in 2002. Curator Anne Prenzler has described Hume’s snowmen as “possibly the most devastatingly simple human avatar since Barnett Newman’s ‘zips.’”
