2019

About the Item

The blue whale is the largest being on planet earth. In many cultures is said that they are the embodiment of very advanced souls, older brothers who in service to humanity, raise the vibration and harmonize planet earth for millions of years. Their song is a call of love to preserve life. Azul is a hymn to life, an interactive sculpture we're both children's and adults can let themselves be carried away by the magic of emotions and imagination. In September 2018, the construction of this majestic 2 ton 20 meter long and 5 meter wide sculpture installation started, conceptualized by Marcos Romero and created together with German Consetti, the skeleton is made out of industrial iron, covered with recycled wood and recovered patiently during five years in coves of the Costa Brava and in the Baix Empordà (Catalonia). Marcos Romero born in Barcelona 1971 is a sculptor who works with materials he finds in forests, beaches and rivers. The idea of Azul arose from his love and respect for nature and became a reality thanks to the materials collected on the shores of the Mediterranean. “I have been working with materials from the sea for many years, what it captivates me is their erosion that clean and polishes, that leaves behind the rocking of the waves when working with the materials, such treasures!! somehow I feel like they have come to me to return them back to the sea, in the form of a sculpture, in the form of a whale. The sea to me is not only an opportunity to relax my sight, but also an opportunity to calm my fears regarding life because, when I stand before the sea and the horizon I perceive a unity, I come to realize that we are all one German Consetti was born in Cordoba Argentina on 1975 he's an sculptor who works with metal, wood, ceramics and other organic materials in order to reflect through them the emotion that underlies matter. “is this rocking of the waves that stranded the whale as a sculpture, the wood brought by the sea waves with a previous history, obsolete material to which we have given another life, another opportunity. As we have given a second life to the world three saved from burning. What I think is an added value is the fact that people can touch and feel these materials they can sense them. From the waste of a living Organism steam other organisms, it's a cycle like the back and forth of the waves … it is a tribute to life” The materials. Searching for treasures in nature. Within the forest, walnut trees saved from burning and Eucaliptus trunks knocked down by the storm. Of hidden coves, pebbles polished by the waves and trunks that navigated the Mediterranean. The vertebrae eucalyptus trunks cut and emptied with care. Rib cage skeleton of iron covered with walnut timber and wood of the sea. Skull and fins. Iron skeleton covered by woods and trunks collected on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea The Tail. Iron skeleton covered with flexible wood and nogal logs The sound, earth, air, water and fire. A call from earth. Turning the little steel rudder, the blue tail moves to take you to a hidden cove. Close your eyes and listen to the sound of the waves touching the shore. A call from water dive into the blue to swim among thousands of sticks that run through your chest cavity to reach your heart, you can hear the crystalline sound of water. A call from air in his mouth you will see two cranks, turn them to start the whale sound and hear the blue song. A call from fire. Play the piano strings inside your jaw. Do you feel the vibration of blue inside you? close your eyes and immerse yourself in the depths of the ocean. The origin. Once Upon a time, there was a forest of eucalyptus caressed by breeze of the Mediterranean Sea. This artwork seems as a piece that belongs to any of the past or future editions of burning man festival.

Per L'arc Here some fragments for one of his latest exhibition catalogue “I think that a work of art should puzzle viewers, make them reflect on the meaning of life” Antoni Tàpies Moisés Gil’s sculptures can be described as philosophical and conceptual, as they encourage individuals to reflect and act in a never-ending existential struggle, in the face of the multiple situations by which they are affected in contemporary societies. Art is always a form of communication: communication with and between the materials employed by the artist, giving rise to an aesthetic visual balance able to convey feelings, emotions and ideas, all of which are essential to a nonconformist commitment and worldview. Moisés Gil puts his representations of individuals in sculptural structures to better indicate the place of humans in the world, the place of contemporary individuals in their different environments, sometimes hostile; they are naked men...
