About the Item

A wonderful pair of patinated iron egret bird wall sculptures, one reaching for the sky and one focused forward, each signed on the weighted bases “Maxfield Parrish Jr, March 1956”. Maxfield Parrish Jr (1908-1983) was born in Plainfield, NH, son of well known artist and illustrator Maxfield Frederick Parrish. Maxfield Parrish Jr, known for his important contribution to the development of the first self-developing camera at Dr. Edwin H. Land 's Polaroid Corporation. These wall sculptures are in very good condition, with some light rust visible on verso and around the eyes. They can stand on their own as well. Dimensions: Left: 18.5 in H x 4.5 in W x 1.38 in D; Right: 11 in H x 14 in W x 1.88 in D.
