About the Item
A fine limited edition cast bronze of a horse by Albanian Sculptor Thanas Papa (20th c). Papa was from the village of Paftal in Berat, Albania, graduated from Jordan Misja High School in Tirana, and won a state scholarship that allowed him to study at the “REPIN” Institute of the Academy Fine Arts in Leningrad, receiving a “gold medal,” and went on to become well known for his 28 sculptures in public places in the Soviet Union, as well as over 200 works recognized in the Study Sector of the National Gallery of Arts in Albania. This cast bronze is signed along the base “Thanas Papa, ‘92, 1 / 8”. Dimensions: 17.5 in H x 25 in W x 8.5 in D. Ref: 56029
