Beautiful contemporary bronze sculpture, evocative of a timeless appeal. Xie Ai Ge is one of the more promising young sculptors of her generation in the world. She has exhibited in Asia, Europe and North America. Her works are in many notable private and corporate collections around the world. Her new “Yoga Series’’ sculptures have been shown in the US, and received considerable interest. This new series by the noteworthy Chinese sculptor Xie Ai Ge comprises 10 different yoga poses, with each pose being in an edition of 8. Xie, a yoga practitioner, is inspired by the inherent juxtaposition of tranquility and power in the movements of yoga to create this series. The round shaped bodies, facial expressions and simple attires of the figures exude tranquility and happiness while they strike a pose effortlessly. Each pose is precise yet effortless, evoking the philosophy of integrating quietness of movement with the energy and power of the pose. Therein lies the beauty of this work.     Xie Ai Ge (b.1977) is one of the more prominent Chinese sculptors in the international art world working in bronze and synthetic materials. She graduated from the Shanghai Fine Arts College, and received recognition by art critics as a promising young sculptor in a national exhibition in China in 2005. She went on to exhibit in Germany (Kunstmuseum) where she received more international exposure. The artist has since exhibited globally in Asia, Europe and the US, where her works are part of many prestigious collections. The breadth and depth of Xie Ai Ge's work is a testament to her technical virtuosity, productivity, and artistic imagination, and she is considered to be not just a leading young sculptor of her generation in China but one of the significantly successful Chinese artists on an international level. This particular series are in many private collections worldwide, and has also been commissioned (in a special life size sculpture of Tai Chi) and prominently displayed at the beautiful Park Hyatt, Shanghai. About Tai Ji Series: Xie is inspired by the ancient practice of Tai Ji and is also a yoga practitioner. She is inspired by the inherent juxtaposition of tranquility and power in the movements of these practices. Each pose evokes a sense of effortlessness, conveying a quietness of movement with the energy and power of an ancient practice. Therein lies the beauty of her work. "Tai Ji" (or "Tai Chi") series are presented in 3 different series, poses differ in size and materials; each set is ultimately unique. 1) Large Bronze sculptures of Tai Ji (Large bronze - about 90cm / 35" in height, varying depending on pose) 8 different poses Edition of 5 per pose 2) Medium Bronze (about 60cm / 24" in height - nearly sold out) 16 different poses Edition of 8 per pose 3) Fibre glass (about 11" in height) 8 different poses Edition of 100 per pose Other series - Unicorn Fantasy World series, Yoga series, Women and Cats, are also available.
