The Escalation Incidents are Singers first breakthrough series. Created in response to the urban context of Johannesburg, the works balance chaotic movement with meticulous detail.
Thinking about the motion of bodies through the city and the implication of architecture on movement, Singer uses these universally recognisable emergency escapes to imply catastrophe and transcendence, gravity and levity.
