Artist Statement: "The art of making, for me, is very much a response to the human condition of needing to connect to one another, as well as to what lies just beyond the borders of our realities. I am drawn to the idea that art can have the ability to affect those who look upon it, allowing these portraits to be conduits to a realm within our subconscious. Although my females are hard ceramic sculptures, their hollow, eggshell-like interiors feel like a glove or a mask that can easily be slipped on and off, like the psychic armor of a distant self. An introspective dialogue is started as I make each piece, invoking a surreal understanding of the physical and emotional auras of these strange beauties. Heavy in symbolism, they illustrate the psychological scope of a hybrid creature. Their wide-eyed gazes are meant to portray an emotional duality that is constantly evolving. Maryam Pezeshki was born in Tehran on August 18, 1977. SHe began to paint at the age of three. Her first painting was a Pinocchio. Participate in national and international painting competitions and festivals among Asian and Iranian children, winning first prize each time. At the age of ten she participated in a television program entitled "Little Great Artists". At the age of fourteen she won the prize for the best drawing and sculpture among Iranian teenagers, and she enrolled in the artistic high school, continuing to do her first personal exhibitions of sculpture, painting and drawing. From the age of seventeen to nineteen she won the national prize for best sculpture at the youth festival for three consecutive years. At seventeen he enrolled at the University of Art in the graphics sector and at twenty-one he graduated with full marks. After a model by Marcel Gimond, this bust was made in 1927 by Georges Serré at the Manufacture de Sèvres, sold exclusively by the Rouard Gallery, and exhibited the same year at the Paris Fall Fair (Salon d'Automne).

Biographies :
Marcel Gimond (1894-1961) was a French sculptor. He studied in Lyon, then at the School of Fine Arts in Lyon where he graduated in 1917. Finally he arrived in Paris the same year and settled in Marly-Le-Roi. Student of Aristide Maillol, he also met Raoul Dufy and Auguste Renoir. Gimond worked with Maillol until 1920, and left him to settle in Paris and regain his independence. He then moved into Renoir's former studio, made available by Jean Renoir. He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d'Automne in 1922. In 1940, Gimond left Paris to settle in the South zone, in Lyon, then in Aix en Provence; He spent his summers at Saint-Félicien, at the house of poet Charles Forot.
At the Liberation, in 1944, he returned to Paris and his workshop rue Ordener, he left only a few months before his death. From 1946 to 1960, he directed a workshop at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Marcel Gimond was known for his busts of political and artistic personalities. He also owed two bas-reliefs located in the lobby of the newspaper "L'Humanité", in tribute to Marcel Cachin and Gabriel Péri.
Georges Serré (1889-1956) was a French ceramist. He worked at the Sèvres factory until 1914, when he was mobilized to go to war. He then went to Indochina where he taught ceramics at the art school of Bien-hoa for five years. On his return to France, he moved to Sèvres, rue Brongniart, but encountered difficulties in producing his works, until the intervention of the ceramist Emile Decoeur who obtained him help to build an oven for firing his ceramics. It was Georges Rouard and his gallery located on avenue de l'Opéra in Paris, who had noticed him at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts of 1925, which presented him during his "exhibitions of contemporary French artisans".

Steven Kemenyffy (born 1943) is an American ceramic artist living and working in Pennsylvania. He is most recognized for his contributions to the development of the American ceramic raku tradition. He has served as a Professor of Ceramic Art at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (formerly Edinboro State College) since 1969. He Has retired from teaching, but continues to produce artwork at his home studio in McKean, Pennsylvania. Kemenyffy is often characterized in regard to his contributions to American experimental ceramics of the late 1960s and early 1970s. More specifically, Kemenyffy’s contributions to American raku techniques are often cited. Kemenyffy has stated that his interest in raku came out of practical considerations: “We [Steven and Susan] were doing a variety of workshops in a variety of different media. Raku was always an official way of making pieces in a short period of time…In raku it seems to compress all the firings into one.” Kemenyffy, himself, describes his early work as “Biomorphic forms alluding to old ceramic traditions such as tiles, vases, and containers.” These works were often in excess of six feet tall and many times included mixed media elements. In 1974, Kemenyffy wrote about the work he was producing; “For several years now, my work has dealt with certain formal considerations. Chief among these is using clay in such a way as to crystallize the moment and permanentize the impermanent. These have been among the primary concerns of all potters since the earliest times.” Today, Kemenyffy continues his pursuit of biomorphic imagery and themes. He writes, “Personally I am most challenged by the business of transforming porous organics into porcelain.” For much of Kemenyffy’s career, he has worked in tandem with his wife, Susan Hale Kemenyffy. In 1987 Susan stated about their collaborative works: “Steven is the [sculptor], I am the drawer. These works would not exist if it weren’t for the sculpture; if it weren’t for the clay. The clay entity comes first and my drawings come second.” James Paul Thompson further clarifies this relationship (as observed in 1987): “Steven Kemenyffy uses patterns as a point of departure for his work, while Susan Kemenyffy...
