About the Item
Limited edition rainbow-colored glass pill wall installation by Edie Nadelhaft. Set of 8 glass pill sculptures. Edition of 9. Each pill is equipped with a D-ring on the back for hanging.
Installation size: 38 x x 38 x 4 inches (approx.)
Edie Nadelhaft’s latest piece from her Better Living Thru Chemistry sculpture series was conceived as a counteraction to all the sadness and strife that has engulfed the world over the past few years. For this work, Nadelhaft designed a custom sans serif font that incorporates stylized shapes and soft edges to produce an updated flower power vibe, and the components are arranged in a subtle heart-shaped configuration. With a nod to the 1960s designer Mary Quant and a wink at contemporary culture’s dual obsessions with pharmaceuticals and short messaging systems, "Luv is the Drug" bursts with color and unbridled joy. The texts evoke kindness, wonder, and real-world gestures of affection. The exception (WTF) is, in this instance, intended to be pronounced with an uplifted “why not?” tone rather than the exasperation or outrage that it has traditionally been used to express. The central piece, "Love Wins," topped with the rainbow colors of Pride, is a hopeful mantra for the days ahead.

- Love Wins - Rainbow glass pill sculptureBy Edie NadelhaftLocated in East Quogue, NYLimited edition rainbow colored glass pill sculpture. Edition of 9. Signed and numbered on the back by the artist. The piece is equipped with a D-ring on the back for easy hanging. "Love Wins" is part of Edie Nadelhaft's "Better Living Thru Chemistry: Luv is the Drug" sculpture series consisting of candy-colored glass and mixed media capsule-shaped objects. Each pill is festooned with text messages, social media iconography and the language of pop psychology. Inspired in equal parts by the ubiquitous presence of social media in contemporary culture and the simultaneous rise of direct - to - consumer pharmaceutical marketing. The work pokes fun at the alternately amusing and depressing correlations between the two phenomena as both are enlisted to oversimplify the human condition and expedite contentment through a familiar cocktail of instant gratification and seductive packaging. Edie Nadelhaft is a New York-based painter and mixed media artist whose work has been widely exhibited at museums, art fairs and galleries. She studied painting and art history at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and S.U.N.Y. Purchase. She received her BFA with Honors from The Massachusetts College of Art & Design. - Candy Trip - Resin Sculpture Pop ArtBy AlbenLocated in New York, NYCheeky references to pop culture and the societal context. Grounded in a postmodern vernacular, Alben’s paintings and sculptures are a pastiche of art historical moments including Pop and Classical art. Interested in street art, the self-taught artist references an array of cultural touchstones in his densely layered, often stencil-sprayed paintings; his allusions include corporate mascots, historical figures, actors, comic book characters, and artists. His sculpture similarly embraces popular culture, though it is also directly influenced by the work of the French artist Arman, who exhibited commercial objects as sculpture in the 1960s. Similarly insisting that popular culture and aesthetic production are linked, Alben inverts Arman’s structure by reimagining touchstones of art history such as the Venus de Milo as a configuration of crushed Coke cansCategory
