American, b. 2001
Bearbrick (or Be@rbrick) figures stand out for two main features: their simple and attractive image and their endless variety of designs.
Bearbrick was published for the first time on May 27, 2001 during the Tokyo World Character Convention. It was given away as a present for its visitors. Since then, the Bearbrick has become a canvas on which designers and artists have shaped their designs.
Owned by the Japanese company Medicom, the Bearbrick shows an articulated bear similar to a piece of Lego. Hence its name, the conjunction of words "bear" and "brick". The most traditional Bearbricks are made of vinyl, although they can be found in any material, wood, metal or porcelain among others.
Bearbrick figures can be found in multiple series. On one hand, they are sold in what has already become popular as “Blind Boxes”, boxes that contain a certain model that belongs to a series, which is made up of a specific number of designs. What makes some figures more special than others is the probability of finding a specific design. Some Bearbricks that are included in these “blind boxes” are very limited, so these have become highly valued collectibles.
On the other hand, the most exclusive side of the Bearbricks shines thanks to the collaborations between Medicom and great designers or artists. Karl Lagerfeld, Salvatore Ferragamo, Kenzo or Roberto Cavalli, are some of the high couture designers who have dressed Bearbrick. Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jackson Pollock, Keith Haring, Kaws or Pushead are some of the artists who give the artistic version to these figures.(Biography provided by Artetrama)

Original 1992 Barcelona Olympic Poster Designed by Jean-Michel Folon
By Jean-Michel Folon
Located in London, GB
Jean-Michel Folon (1 March 1934 – 20 October 2005) was a Belgian artist, illustrator, painter, and sculptor
The first exhibition of his watercolors was in New York in 1969 in the Lefebre Gallery. One year later he exhibited in Tokyo and in the Il Milione gallery in Milan. He also participated in the XXVth Venice Biennale. In 1973 he joined the selection of Belgian artists in the XXVth São Paulo Biennale, where he was granted the Grand Prize in Painting. Over the years his work concentrated on different techniques, including watercolor, etching, silkscreen, illustrations, mosaics, and stained glass, which showed the diversity of his art. His work Ein Baum stirbt - Un albero muore, 1974, is by Museo Cantonale d’Arte [de] of Lugano. He also designed numerous posters, often for humanitarian causes. Around 1988 he created his first sculptures made out of wood. He then moved on to creating sculptures in clay, plaster, bronze and marble, while continuing to paint.
Several museums dedicated exhibitions to him, among them the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1971, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam in 1976, the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London in 1977, the Musée Picasso in Antibes...

Cubistic Tapestry or Carpet in Wool and Silk, France, 1930's
By Sonia Delaunay
Located in Amsterdam, NL
Art Deco cubistic carpet / wall tapestry in wool and silk, France, 1930’s
.
Measures: (332 x 195 cm)
This well preserved tapestry that can also be used as a carpet (no shoes allowed) comes from a meeting room from the head office of Philips Electronics in Eindhoven. It comes out of a meeting room and it is truly in an amazing condition. The silk has been very well preserved and the colours really stand out. The black colours work very well almost as a catalysator for the blue and red and together they create a great play between shapes and forms and different materials and colours. The well chosen symboles make this tapestry a pleasure for the eye. In real life much nicer than on the picture. We tried to give you a better understanding of its appearance by putting it in a few settings. Hopefully this helps. More pictures on request. And oh yes, the amazing black and white art work is by Noor Knip...
