José Ramón Carrera was born in Madrid in 1935. In 1943 he moved to Bilbao, where he actively participated in the artistic life of the city. In 1953 he received the first prize for modeling from the Bilbao School of Arts and Crafts and in 1954 the special mention for modeling at the same school. In 1959 he held his first exhibition Two Painters and a Sculptor at the Vizcaína Artistic Association. A year later he works in Paris in the workshop of Alicia Peñalba, winner of the
Sao Paulo Biennial. In 1961 he moved to London and three years later returned to Bilbao. In 1966 he participated in the founding of the Emen Group of the Basque School, together with Agustín Ibarrola...
