Vladimir Kagan 'Rock Star' Pair of Leather Rocking Chairs, c. 1997, Signed
By American Leather, Vladimir Kagan
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This pair of black leather rocking armchairs are by Vladimir Kagan for the Kagan Collection, by American Leather (previously LeatherTech). Designed in circa 1997 and called the 'Rock Star' lounge chair due to its rocking chair abilities cleverly disguised underneath with hidden wooden runners and signature rounded form, the curved arms and integrated seat cushion gives the look of a molded chair. What's a huge upside about these examples are that they have LeatherTech labels underneath instead of the common and newer American Leather labels. In the 1990s the company was originally founded as LeatherTech and brought huge innovations into the furniture and design industry. Later, in the early 2000's they changed their name to American Leather. Earlier examples made prior to the name change such as this pair are sought-after by collectors and generally carry greater worth. With Postmodern soaring in popularity, this club chair is just as relevant today as it was when it was first introduced. An excellent choice for designers and collectors alike, the chair and ottoman are signed underneath with The Kagan collection labels and leather swatch...

Vladimir Kagan Rockstar Rocking Lounge Chairs in Ivory Bouclé, Pair, Signed
By Vladimir Kagan, American Leather
Located in Culver City, CA
Looking for a pair of modern lounge chairs that are extremely comfortable and also beautiful? These are it. Designed by Vladimir Kagan for American Leather in the 1990's, these lounge chairs, aptly named "Rockstar" lounge chairs are just that-- rocking lounge chairs. These puffy, post-modern chairs sit on a pair of rounded sleigh legs and gently rock back and forth. With its curvy rounded body and angular lines, it's very much a classically designed Vladimir Kagan piece with a wonderful post modern flair. We chose to have these chairs upholstered in a supple high pile ivory boucle that just begs to be touched and sat in. Like oversized cotton balls, these chairs are comfort to the max-- with super soft high-density foam, these are the kind of chairs you're going to sink into; bring a good book and a bottle of wine-- because you'll be perched up in these for the night. While these chairs modern or even slightly post-modern in nature, the design is so contemporary and timeless that these would effortlessly flex into any mid century modern, Hollywood Regency, boho chic or glam environment, They could also look wonderful in a beach house, or even more cottage core, or traditional type environment-- and would be incredible as a nursery rocking chair...
