Diadji Diop

Senegalese, b. 1973
Diadji Diop arrived in France in 1994 with the intention of training as a cartoonist. He discovered the multiple possibilities of sculpture in preparatory classes, which led him to change direction. His passion for cartoons and cinema has always fuelled his work, whether in his choice of realism or in his installations, which are sometimes narrative. He graduated with honours in 2001 and took part in the Exhibition des Félicités in 2002. An artist of international renown, Diadji Diop has left an indelible mark on the art world. In 2009, his presence marked the European Heritage Days at the Elysee Palace. In 2017, his participation in the prestigious Palm Beach ArtFair in Miami drew unanimous acclaim. In 2022, a surprising new monumental work emerged on the roof of the Mikado MJC CS art centre building in Annecy, as part of the Lyon Biennial. Diadji Diop established himself as one of the key figures at the Dakar Biennial in 2018 and 2022, where one of his major pieces, "Naaw Naan", stood out, testifying to his unrivalled talent in contemporary art. His work has been exhibited in a number of prestigious venues, including the Emmanuel Perrotin gallery, La Villette, the Abidjan Visual Arts Festival, the Molitor in Paris and is part of the collection of National Museum of Immigration History in Paris, since 2011. His artistic work explores themes such as identity, exile and violence, using realistic forms to question human relationships. He reveals painful interiorities without ever sinking into pathos, with a combination of humour, strength and sometimes derision. His work is a call for dialogue and sharing, transcending differences of skin colour, borders and hatred.

"Transcendent", Frederick Hart, Acrylic Sculpture, 19x11x9 in., 96/350, white
By Frederick Hart
Located in Dallas, TX
"Transcendent" Dimensions: 19" x 11" x 9" Medium: Clear Acrylic Resin Edition 96/350 Frederick Hart's 1991 “Transcendent” lucite sculpture is imbued with a truly sublime presence. Female and male figures emerging from the Lucite seem to appear and disappear within the work. This ghostly effect is created through Hart’s unique process of embedment, which involves casting one acrylic work within another. It is a technique the artist patented in 1982, marking the end of a decade of constant experimentation and progression and the beginning of a period of precise refinement. Consistent with his unique poetic vision, the inner, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual forces dominate the work. Imbued with a distinct sense of grace, this piece is a testament to Hart’s remarkable technical abilities and devotion to the craft. Frederick Hart's "Transcendent" is signed by the artist and includes a gallery certificate of authenticity. It is from an edition of 350 (+ 60 AP) and the current gallery retail price for the piece is over $40,000. About Frederick Hart As one of America’s greatest representational artists, Frederick Hart left a lasting and unique mark in the world of modern sculpture. Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1943, he studied at the University of South Carolina and after protesting alongside black students during the Civil rights movement, he moved to Washington D.C. to continue his studies at the Corcoran School of Art. Fascinated with the human figure and the classical approach, he started developing his career in 1966 as a stone carver apprentice at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. Leaving the Cathedral in 1971, Hart started his own studio practice but had little success in the first years. In 1974, he was awarded the project by the Cathedral to create a contemporary interpretation of The Creation, an event that would change his life. Soon, Hart’s career took a turn for the better, and in the upcoming decades, he rose to national prominence, becoming a government art advisor in 1985 and receiving the prestigious Henry Hering...

Artist: Jim Pallas (1941) Title: Au Natural Cluster Fuck Year: 2019 Medium: Epoxy on ceramic Size: 2.5 x 7 x 5 inches Condition: Excellent Inscription: Signed and dated JIM PALLAS (1941-) American painter, draughtsman, sculptor, and printmaker. An innovator of technological art beginning in the early 1960s, Pallas drew inspiration from his upbringing in Detroit, Michigan where he had early exposure to the automobile industry, its materials and design. He is recognized for having employed electronics and early computer technology to enable his sculptures to respond to external stimuli. Often the circuit boards specifically designed for a particular piece were, themselves, drawings. Throughout his varied career, Pallas has created sculptures and reliefs employing a variety of subjects often imbuing the objects with humor and irony, yet connecting them to everyday life and experiences. Represented by the preeminent Allan Stone Gallery in New York for more than two decades, Pallas’s work has been exhibited in and collected by institutions nationwide including the Detroit Institute of Art, and Columbia University. In legacy, Jim Pallas’s artwork is allied with other innovative masters of the 1960s and 70s including Red Grooms, Larry Rivers, Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Yaakov Agam, Nam June Paik, Frieder Nake, Leslie Mezei, Georg Nees, A.
