A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Victorian Scottish sterling silver freedom casket; an addition to our ornamental silver collection. This magnificent antique Victorian Scottish sterling silver freedom casket has a rectangular form. The surface of the box is encompassed with chased scrolling Scottish thistle decoration, all on a matte background. The ornamentation to the anterior surface of the casket is accented with a central applied decorated cartouche displaying the incorporated pierced monogram style date '1875' above the bannered bright cut engraved inscription 'James COR Probost'. This impressive monographic statement is flanked with two applied simplified coats of arms, incororating a lion passant guardant crowned with an imperial crown and collared with an open one with the motto 'A Fin' - To the End* to one side and a pot of three growing lilies with 'Dei Donvm' Gift of God to the other.
