1920s House of Adair Floral Black Crepe Beaded Flapper Dress
By House of Adair
Located in London, GB
The House of Adair was a Parisian atelier that created beaded silk gowns for the export market during the 1920s. They were retailed in the best department stores of the day, especially in the US and UK. The designs were inspired by haute couture fashions and popular themes including orientalism and the geometric forms of the Art Deco movement. The workers has all been trained in haute couture methods and rare surviving pieces are often acquired by museums and fashion institutions including Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This dress has a sleeveless, blouson top style v-neck and is fashioned with a lightly gathered drop-waist. This fluid, tubular tailoring was typical of the must-have dresses of this era and the silk crepe is adorned with brightly beaded flowers, among them sunflowers, thistles and gerberas. The original label sits inside the waistband and reads “Adair 4. Cité Paradis Paris...

To decorate your house, take a room-by-room approach. In each space, first establish a color palette that consists of two or three hues that blend well with each other. Select an architectural element or a primary piece of furniture to serve as the focal point, and then pick furnishings to complement it. Opt for flooring, wallpaper, paint, lighting and other elements to coordinate with the furnishings in the space, and then finish off the room with accents like rugs, wall art, window treatments and decorative objects. Find a large selection of furniture and decorative accents on 1stDibs.

A minimalist house usually looks simple yet sophisticated. Furniture used in minimalist decorating tends to have sleek, clean lines. The number of pieces placed in a space is kept to a minimum. Decorative objects are integrated sparsely to add color and texture without overwhelming the space. Open floor plans are common in minimalist homes, and their layouts often maximize natural lighting. Neutral color palettes are also frequently chosen. Overall, the emphasis of the design of a minimalist home is on the function of the space rather than on flashy decor. Find a diverse assortment of minimalist furniture and decorative objects on 1stDibs.
