Dutch designer, Joris Laarman, is internationally renowned for his utilization, and often innovation, of cutting-edge technology to create poetic, emotionally charged work that challenges the boundaries of design and science. Enlisting digital tools and parametric processes to create fluid forms inspired by nature, Laarman’s highly conceptual, groundbreaking work has redrawn the parameters of contemporary design. All that Laarman creates is imbued with his firm belief in the symbiosis between handcraft and technology, resolute in the Maker Chair. Composed of digitally fabricated 3-D parts that perfectly tesselate, the individual elements of the work are constructed by hand, like a puzzle, into a sweeping curve reminiscent of Verner Panton’s 1960’s injection-moulded chair...
