Very elegant set comprising two chairs and two armchairs, made of wrought iron, with scrolling and curlicue motifs, raised on cabriole legs. Seats in bright, yellow canvas (outdoors)...

Matrice side chair is a steel corset compressing a velvet fleece, an organic, carnal form, compressed by a wire mesh. The interaction of two antagonistic materials reminds us of the poetry of blown glass, the bodice on the waist, the imprint left on the body by the wicker chairs. We tried to give the seat a feeling of comfort, both visually and in its use. The iconic Chesterfield sofa quickly became a reference to be summoned. Matrice is a reinterpretation, a sensitive statement of its imprint: the upholstery here is turned over like a glove, revealing the wire mesh structure. The latter forms a corset compressing the softness of the seat and backrest to give it an organic geometry. A beautiful set of six original French Art Deco tall back blonde wood and nickeled bronze dining chairs, attributed to Rene Prou. Tall elegant backs with curvilinear top crest and shield shape lower backrest, featuring elegant sculptural cabriole front legs and tapered splay back legs. An inset nickeled bronze side bar flanks and accents the back rest, granting this chair a very unusual and unique style. These chairs are skillfully designed, well crafted and of solid construction. The cushion seats and backs in desert taupe/ mauve color naugahyde upholstery are in good vintage condition but are original and of the period. He was a furniture and a decorator who studied at the Ecole Bernard-Palissy in Paris. Shortly thereafter, Prou joined the design house, Gouffé and became their chief designer. He was known as the first decorator of the modern taste. Our one-of-a-kind Chiavari chair was professionally lacquered in the most perfect hue of blue and its seat expertly reupholstered in a rich cut velvet fabric that features a peacock feather pattern of blue, green and gold. One of our favorite features of this show stopper chair is how the Chiavari curves and spindles are echoed in the shapes of the cut velvet peacock feathers, which have such a novel and inviting texture. If you were to move your hand across the top of the seat, it feels like embossed/raised velvet peacock feathers. Chiavari chairs are absolutely timeless.
