La Mante Religieuse Floor Lamp by Rispal
By Rispal
Located in Brooklyn, NY
Douglas Mont, a lighting designer, Rispal collector, and true enthusiast of the brand, wanted to revive those emblematic creations of the golden age of French furniture. Years of research, meetings, and experiments eventually convinced him to re-launch the iconic brand. It seemed almost impossible to reproduce these lamps without the original plans or tools. Stunning Sculptural Form Floor Lamp by Rispal, France, 1950, Published
By Rispal
Located in bergen op zoom, NL
During the early 1950s the French company Rispal produced several highly sculptural lighting designs. These highly expressive floor lights were inspired by contemporary abstract sculpture especially the work of artist Hans Arp and can be seen almost as "functional sculpture." With their bold biomorphic forms, these lights were at the cutting edge of taste in postwar product design. This is the teakwood version with a nice aging patina, original French bajonet socket brass bulb holders rewired with cotton covered electric cable Literature :- “1000 lights 1879-1959” , Fiell and Fiell,Taschen, two page article (pg 418-419) on Rispal lamps...
