Around the time the Tennis Bracelet debuted into polite society, the classic tennis color combination was generally white and navy. The year was 1978. This was before players got clothing endorsements or even racquet endorsements for that matter, and they certainly had not started to design their own tennis dresses in every imaginable color. It was a time of classic minimalism. At Wimbledon, the dress code was—and is—all white. Players were only permitted a single trim of color around the neckline and around the cuff of the sleeves, but no wider than one centimeter (10mm).
