Presenting this lovely, Vandermark - Merritt art glass vase. Vase is decorated with a combed & hooked feather design. The main color of this vase is an iridescent pastel blue at the shoulder and purple or violet at the body with iridescent gold pulled design in an Art Nouveau shape. This vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs observed. This vase dates from 1980 and is hand-etched on the top edge of the base, “Vandermark PM/SS 0455 1980”. These American studio art glass pieces from the 1960s – 1990s are very sought after today and are becoming increasingly scarce as they become more collectable. Known as a "Jack in the Pulpit" vase, this Favrile glass creation by Tiffany Studios New York begins with a bulbous base in deep hues of striated, swirling iridescent yellow and gold. Shooting upward from the base is an elongated, narrow neck of similar coloration, darkening in coloration as it ascends. From the narrow neck explodes an outward facing glass bloom in brilliant shades of ochre, umber and marigold, made to shimmer by the undulations in the bloom's outer edges, all tinged with iridescence.
