From rustic minimalism to urbane eclecticism, the selection celebrates a global spectrum of styles, united by authenticity, a love of detail, and a zest for individual expression that will never go out of fashion. 100 Interiors Around the World takes the reader inside and outside of the most beautiful properties in the world. The book spans across six continents and includes a vast range of styles. This book is great for the architecture and home-styling lover, inspiration for the renovation starter, or as a lovely coffee table book for any home. Taschen, the publisher of Brobdingnagian art and design books, has collected 100 interiors in two hefty volumes, like an Oxford English Dictionary of global interiors. A is for an apartment in Amsterdam, overlooking the North Sea Canal. It is also for a concrete spaceship of a house (plus moat) in Acapulco. B is for Beijing and Beverly Hills and Berlin, and not one but two cold war-era apartments — one in former Soviet housing, its pocked cement walls now patina for a young artist’s vintage and Ikea furniture. C is for Cape Town, and the home of an artist who works in mosaics and plumbing pipes painted in rainbow colors. In Chiang Mai, a house on stilts is tiled in concrete imprinted with bamboo. In New York City, a computer consultant lives in a former garage outfitted with twin sleeping pods made from an oil truck tank. This collection represents the greatest hits from Taschen’s archive Includes interiors in Argentina, Brazil, China, Cuba, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Morocco, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the UK, the USA, and many more countries. With pictures by leading interior photographers including Xavier Béjot, Pieter Estersohn, Marina Faust, Reto Guntli, François Halard...

Bonnie Edelman "Sand Bar" Photograph, Scapes Series, 2011
By Bonnie Edelman
Located in New York, NY
Contemporary artist Bonnie Edelman's "Sand Bar" was photographed in 2011 and is part of the Sea Scapes Series. As her most recognized collection "Scapes" consists of landscapes, seascapes and skyscapes whose specific forms have been blurred in order to direct viewers’ focus toward colors and compositions. Sublime and abstract, the photographs capture grain fields, sea horizons, and sunsets from around the world. This photograph is being offered as a C-print face-mounted onto 1/8” non glare plexi with a custom maple floating frame (1/2" face x 2" deep with 3/8" gap). It will ship directly from the artist's printmaking studio with a signed certificate of authenticity. About the artist: Bonnie Edelman was born in New York City. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Connecticut College on an academic and athletic scholarship. Having been raised in a family of artists and architects, Bonnie was always creating. Whether it was sculpture, painting, jewelry making and interior design, she has always had an intense need to express herself through creativity. Fashion was an all encompassing self expression so it was because of this idea of materializing thoughts, desires and inspirations that she decided to devote her career to the editorial side of the fashion industry. After an internship at Rolling Stone Magazine and then formally starting her career as the assistant to the Fashion Director at Seventeen Magazine, Bonnie moved through the ranks at Glamour Magazine and MTV. She then settled into the position of Travel Editor at Sports Illustrated, where she navigated the world producing exotic and inspiring photo shoots for the magazine’s annual Swimsuit Issue. It was during this time spent in The Islands of the Maldives, Ecuador, Venezuela and Kenya, to mention a few, while working closely with photographers like Sante D’Orazio, Russell James...

It is a place of perfection in nature, of reconciliation with our origin, of serenity towards our near reality. Paradises are there, waiting for us. We earn them sometimes, and some other times we are expelled from them and then their very existence becomes a reproach. Paradises are not ephemeral, though. All that belongs to Nature is ephemeral and boundless at the same time. It remains until the infinite and returns to the beginning to wither again and so on, over and over. Paradise escapes us, it slips out in our imagination of what it is. It disappears and then, just like everything we cannot hold, like everything vanishing away from our desire for grasping, it must be replicated, frozen in time, imitated at best, never to be lost again. We contemplate it in all its confines, we study it and scrutinise all its forms, line by line, each with different colours and nuances. We thus hold on to the ephemeral, we stop its decadence, we perpetuate beauty in our urge to negate its own death. The paradise reverts to the logic of the quest. Maybe the last voyage ever to be undertaken is that of defining a paradise through sheer technical mastery, through the use of an apparent wisdom, a meticulous ability to reproduce reality: to create some sort of artificial paradise, a world where everything is reproducible and interminable, and so all appears at last to be perfectly docile and tame. To believe in the absolute harmlessness of such a paradise. And very likely to open up an abyss afresh, a new irony (tragic o comic or perhaps both at the same time) about each petal of each of its artificial flowers, made in the image and according to the likeness of reality. Artificial Paradises intends to be a very own and concrete paradise in a very specific location. The tradition of reproduction/imitation in Asia forms part of its culture. The tenacious aim for perfection, or for the idea of perfection held about things, blurs the confine between what is and its perfect imitation. In Asia the electric colours of the artificial plants...
