Madame Gres 1970s Silk Scarf 34"x34"

About the Item

This is a beautiful scarf by the couture house of Madame Gres, established in France in 1932. Gres was born Germaine Emilie Krebs and raised in Paris. Her first love was painting and sculpture which she studied, and shifted to art of fashion design after pressure from her family She was known for her elegant gowns and draping, as well as her technique for designing directly on models. She continued designing until she retired in the late 80s. She passed away in 1993. This scarf with predominantly brown, white, grey and yellow captures flow and movement of a sculpture.
