About the Item

This 1970's Geoffrey Beene two piece dress ensemble is a vision of loveliness. Both pieces are are a combination of a unique puckered black sheer fabric and a floral linen depicting white flowers with brown accents. The pullover boxy top scoops slightly lower in the back and tucks neatly into the skirt which zips and hooks at the back. The skirt consists of six layers including the black puckered silk lined with a stiff underskirt topped with two layers of the floral linen cut asymmetrically and stiffened into shape with another two layers of lining. The overall effect is a unique feminine silhouette with a nod to Edwardian style overskirts. Both pieces may require undergarments depending on your modesty and the occasion. Perfect for formal daytime wear or glam it up for the evening. Originally retailed at Neiman Marcus. CONDITION Good vintage condition. The hem of the top has two separations between the linen and a satin banding as shown in photographs 17 and 18 ... cannot be seen when the top is tucked into the skirt waistband. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS Marked a U.S. size 4 and fits true to size with attention to the following measurements. For visual reference, the mannequin in the photographs is a size 4.
