1950s Rare Hardies Amies Navy Bow Suit
Utterly fabulous and rare little navy suit from the great Hardy Amies, who is most famous for designing for the queen! The fabric used to construct this little beauty is that perfect blue fine wool suiting that is just is sublime . It is cut to absolute perfection and has that strong late fifties aesthetic. The dress is nipped in at the waist and the skirt cut to hug the wearer. Little side pockets are hidden away at either side along the seams. The bodice is so pretty with big fabric covered buttons and pretty button details on each cap sleeve. All the edges are finished with a navy silk satin piping and that same silk satin is used to highlight the waist with a huge, extravagant bow! So couture fifties! The jacket is cut to sit just above that waist and has delicious rounded shoulders and a fitted cut. An amazing example of the period and a wonderfully made suit as well! Museum quality condition
