About the Item
Jacques Heim is inextricably linked with the history of French fashion. In the years 1958-1962 he was the president of the highly influential Paris Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture (the central body overseeing French haute couture). A period which also coincided with the world of Parisian couture shifting to the new world of ready to wear.
Jacques Heim believed that fashion would thrive through change and adaptation.
Although he exhibited none of the flamboyance or temperament of competitors like Yves Saint Laurent, he was steadfastly modern and created designs that are smart, eclectic and of many styles yet always luxurious and elegant.
This apple green slightly baby-doll dress constructed from silk crepe is a perfect example of Heim’s feminine and sophisticated aesthetic.
Meticulously tailored with seams that shape and hint of an empire line on the bodice.
Contrasting with the pared down front of the dress is the back which is draped for volume and set off with a bow that draws the eyes to the open back and nape.
The beautiful textile decorated with a green, black and white floral hand printed design is bold and confident.
The dress is fully lined with a delicate silk chiffon and is couture finished.
