Vintage 1970's Holly's Harp Bird Garden Print Burgundy Brocade Bias-Cut Gown

About the Item

A truly breathtaking and extremely rare Holly's Harp whimsical bird garden print bias-cut gown dating back to the mid 1970's. After opening a Los Angeles boutique and having her collection showcased at Henri Bendel, Holly Harp Park began manufacturing designs under her own label in 1973. Taking her inspiration from the vintage garments she collected, Holly Harp is best known for her “rich hippie” looks — romantic layered and draped designs in ethereal fabrics. This is a phenomenal garment that is everything fabulous you would expect from this era and designer. Made from a luxurious mid-weight woven brocade cotton tapestry, it has a romantic fluidity to it and also hangs perfectly on the body. I can't get over the gorgeous print! The bodice has a dramatic tie-front capelet construction which is such a nod to 1930's fashion. The bias-cut silhouette with front slit emphasizes a woman's seductive shape without adding any bulk or volume to the actual hips. Beautiful from all angles; the pictures say it all. Measurements Bust: 32-34 inches Waist: 26-28 inches Hips: up to 36 inches Total Length: 57 inches This Holly Harp designer dress is in excellent condition with no rips, stains or holes. Slips over the head with no additional closures. Amazing designer dress!

  • 1920's French Couture Metallic Gold Lamé Beaded Leaf-Motif Trained Flapper Dress
    Located in Beverly Hills, CA
Breathtaking mid-1920's French couture museum-quality beaded & jeweled metallic lamé evening trained dress. The dramatic gold color palette touches a deep chord in our collective aesthetic consciousness. As fashion lovers, we never tire from antique metallics; they will always be fresh to modern eyes. It is in wonderful wearable condition; something that is becoming a rarity as time goes by. The gold fabric is even more amazing when you realize it is all hand-beaded in the much gorgeous turquoise and creme leaf motif. The prong-set jewels add another degree of charm that is irresistible. I adore the fringed cut-out shoulders and three-dimensional floral side applique. The attached duel-trains really set this garment apart of others during the period. This is one of the best 1920's pieces I have ever seen and I would not be surprised to learn that it was custom made from one of the top haute-couture Paris...
