- 19th Century Central Asian Embroidered Chyrpy Mantle CloakLocated in Atlanta, GALate 19th Century woman's mantle cloak or Chyrpy with the artistic hallmarks of the Tekke tribe of Turkmenistan. Though the cloak appears to have sleeves, it is actually intended to drape from the head with the sleeve style tassels hanging in the back. The cloak is primarily made from pieced silk textiles with intricate stitching that creates traditional patterns including a stylized flower and geometric shapes. The hem is decorated with heavy silk fringe and the interior is lined in contrasting printed cotton fabrics. It is a beautiful piece of textile art worthy of display or drape it on the shoulders as shown in the photographs.
