The famous printed fabrics of Provence France have a storied history dating back to the 17th century and the introduction of Indian prints to the court of Louis XIV where their popularity created a fashion trend which is now considered to be the epitome of classic country French style. The 20th century saw a resurgence of popularity for the prints beyond the borders of France thanks in part to Charles Demery's management of Souleiado, the oldest producer of these 'Indiennes' prints, and also to a 1970's New York antique shop, Pierre Deux which later became a source for the French country look. This blue and white vintage Pierre Deux skirt really captures the crisp and casual style of this classic Souleiado fabric with two complimentary prints and a quilted hemline that creates volume when worn. It zips and hooks at the back with cross stitching at the 2" wide waistband for an added detail and hidden side pockets. Very good condition. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS The size is not marked though the skirt best fits U.S. sizes 4 - 6 with attention to the following measurements.
