A Rare Buratto embroidered velvet Tablecloth - Italy Early 18c

About the Item

Late 17c, early 18c for the embroidery 19c for the velvet tablecloth Italy Rare tablecloth in green-yellow silk velvet cut (XIXth century) with wide bands and festoons of silk embroidery in needle painting on brown linen veil, called Buratto, Italy late seventeenth or early eighteenth century. Embroideries in Passé stitch with a strong polychromy, highlighted by a cream silk cordonets applied to the work! Matching crenellated borders. Greenish cotton sateen lining 19th century. Exceptional piece in excellent condition despite some repairs in the brown linen net. Good condition and color. Measurement: 200 cm x 119 cm.

    Circa 1900 France - Tassinari & Chatel Beautiful Art Nouveau period silk Brocatelle wall panel by the famous painter and decorator Adrien Karbowsky made by Tassinari & Chatel. Graphic composition with flowered basket of poppies and laurel wreaths in shades of burgundy, wine lees and golden yellow. Complete panel with selvedge framed by an original Jacquart woven braid sewn on all four sides. Skilful bumpy weave with twill background and raised damask design. Very slight variations in the colours of the original weave which give all the charm to this piece with subtle tones. Cleaned piece with a very slight patina on the dents. Otherwise stable condition, no holes. Good general condition of colour and conservation. References: reproduced in the catalogue of the Exhibition of modern silk furnishings, Ecole de Tissage de Lyon, 1934. Dimensions: height 184 cm, width 68 cm.
