Japanese Antique Black Lantern Box /1896s Objet d'art WabiSabi

About the Item

This is a lantern box from the old days of Japan. The box is pasted with Japanese paper and painted with black lacquer. There is a description of "Meiji 29" on the back. The lantern box is a box that stores folded lanterns. Japanese lanterns have a long history, and it is said that they were introduced from China in the Muromachi period. In the beginning, it was not a foldable one like today, but a simple one with Japanese paper pasted on a box made of bamboo. After that, it was improved by Japanese hands, and by the end of the Muromachi period, it became the shape of a folding lantern. Why don't you add the beauty of wabisabi to the interior as an object of the space? Weight: 1kg

Since ancient times, people have created necessary tools from familiar materials, passed them on, and nurtured a lifestyle culture in order to survive in the severe struggle against nature. Over a long period of time, the tools accumulate a certain flavor and reflect the way of life. The harsher the natural environment and the weaker the human being, the stronger the power of the tool. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly modifying and re-creating the things around us opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we carefully select and collect beautiful, powerful, and unique Japanese antiques. This is a very old candlestick...
