19th Century Japanese Cloisonné Small Vase, Meiji Period

About the Item

This is a very decorative small cloisonné vase, made in Japan and dating to the 19th Century, Meiji period. The vase has a good baluster shape with a hexagonal form. It has been well made of a bronze alloy with rich enamels of many different colours, set into a black ground. The main decoration is detailed having different sized circular panels with flowers, butterflies, and other symbols and motifs. There are borders above the base rim and around the neck with an additional beautifully detailed shoulder lappet border.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Overall wear with some minor losses, marks and blemishes with a small slightly bruised area to one corner section just below the shoulder. This is difficult to see. Please see images for detail. Overall Fair to Good with stable structure.
