About the Item
A sublime Chinese Yueyao glazed guan jar with incised decoration and applied handles, five dynasties period (907- 979 AD), China.
The vessel of somewhat flattened globular form, with a short, squat foot, bulging body, and wide, open mouth with a slightly everted rim.
The jar glazed in the characteristic grayish-green celadon color typical of Yue wares. The body of the guan is decorated with bands of incised wavy lines following a tight formation. Two lug handles of twisted rope form have been applied to the shoulder.
