Pair of Antique Chinese Qing Guangxu Bat & Peach Floral Globular Porcelain Vase
About the Item
For your consideration is a pair of finely hand painted Chinese globular porcelain vases, from early 20th century. The heavy porcelain body is in elegant globular form and covered with thick creamy white glaze. The top opening rim is painted with gold as well as the double rings around the shoulder.
The neck and body are fully decorated with same pattern. A group of different colored bats represent the wish of prosperity in Chinese culture. Surrounding the bats are branches bearing full ripe peaches, extending from a Chinese longevity symbol. On the opposite side, a long ribbon forms double ruyi symbol. A 6 character Qing Guangxu mark can be found on the bottom of each vase.
This pair of vases is part of a series of similar porcelains that awarded to the outstanding officials by the Royal court. So the quality and craftsmanship are among the best of the time. They are still in excellent condition with no damage or repair of any kind. Only some minor wear and tear that match to the age.
