About the Item

A very lovely and richly decorated charger. Late Meiji in our opinion. The plate is not warped, in the last photo it seems that way but this is only because of the hanger A very lovely and richly decorated Charger, marked at base. Taisho Period or a little later. Underglaze blue, other colors seem to be overglaze. Condition Overall condition perfect. Size: 345mm Period circa 1900.

    Exquisite Japanese late-19th century Imari Meiji period (circa 1880) signed porcelain charger in iron-red, cobalt blue and green. It showcases three panels with floral pattern on a dramatic gold background with shishi lions strolling. The panels are set against a stunning cobalt blue background adorned with generous gold details. The three small circles around the rim showcase plum blossom, pine and bamboo patterns, together they create a stunning auspicious “sho-Chiku-bai”.
