Vintage Chinese Famille Noire Porcelain Ovoid Ginger Jar with Lid

About the Item

Vintage Chinese Famille Noire porcelain ginger jar with lid, c. 1920-30s. Impressive ovoid shape jar hand painted with vibrant colors on matte black glaze. Each side features a picturesque scene of figures in a garden likely depicting ancestral characters. Two smaller scenes show figures at a table. The theme colors are pink, blue, green, yellow and white which provide a vivid contrast to the black background. Many medallion style circles with varying designs and colors adorn the space around the sets of scenery. Elaborate floral and geometrical decoration define the top and bottom. It is finished with an intact pointed finial lid. A gorgeous and visually striking ginger jar with lots of variation and interesting detail. Marked with stamp on bottom. It pairs beautifully with another jar under a separate listing of similar size and shape. Please see last photo.
