Antique Chinese Alter Table Beautifully Hand-Carved circa 1900

About the Item

Chinese furniture was first developed as early as the Eastern Zhou period (770B.C. - 221B.C.). "Altar tables" were typically long, narrow tables to display items of wealth and beauty. You will also find areas of burn marks where they used their incense burners. Many years ago, an Englishman who dealt in Chinese antique furniture once told me, that as good as I thought the Italians were at creating fake antiques, no one was better than the Chinese. So, we are clearly not experts in Chinese furniture and can only give an opinion as to what we believe to be true. This Chinese alter table does look to have some age and could easily be turn-of-the century and that is our best hypothesis. We have priced it accordingly.

This particular Chinese alter table appears to have some age to it, based on the dove-tail drawers and general wear and we'd date...
