Chinese Wine Table with Humpback Stretchers, circa 1850

About the Item

The elegant design of this 19th century table is inspired by earlier Ming dynasty furniture designs highly prized by collectors. Clean lines, simple humpback stretchers, and a beautifully worn patina only add to the console table's value. The exquisite elmwood table once stood in a Qing-dynasty home in northern China, where it served as a domestic altar for family ancestor worship.
