About the Item
A fine example of an antique Chinese wedding sedan chair with lift poles, with removable pagoda style roof decorated with gilt carved figures and floral borders, surmounting a single seat red painted cabin with two decorated doors for the bride to sit, scroll carved window frame decoration on all four sides, above colorful polychrome panels depicting pagodas, landscapes, birds, and flowers. This sedan chair dates to the early 20th century and is in good overall condition, with some of the roof figure decorations missing, some missing inner window panels, some edge and paint losses, shrinkage cracks, and other imperfections and wear commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: Approximately 84 in H (7 Feet) x 110 in w (with lift poles) x 39.5 in D.
