A Japanese 19th century double-section Sendai clothing tansu (Isho-dansu) with drawers and elaborate handcut iron hardware. Born during the 19th century, this wooden Tansu chest is a fine example of Japan's traditional cabinetry. Featuring a lovely lacquered finish, this chest presents a rectangular top, sitting above a perfectly organized façade, accented with beautifully detailed iron hardware. Made of two pieces stacked together, the piece presents two long drawers in its upper section, followed by four drawers of varying sizes in the bottom, while the sides showcase handles. With its clean lines, its nicely weathered appearance and convenient storage, this Japanese 19th century double section Sendai clothing tansu chest will bring an exotic touch to any home.
