Kyoto Two Section Mizuya (Kitchen) Tansu, Meiji Period

About the Item

Two Section Kyoto Mizuya (Kichen) tansu, Meiji Period Handmade with Japanese hinoki (cypress), sugi (cedar) and kaki (persiimmon) wood with handforged metal handles. Top section has four small sliding doors with persimmon inlaid middle part, two large sliding doors with decorative bar across the middle part and four drawers with persimmon inlaid part. The bottom section has two sliding doors with horizontal slats. Mizuyas are used to store kitchen implements and dishes. The modern uses are varied but effective.
