Antique Lacquer Tray
About the Item
Qing Dynasty Red Lacquer Tray. Collected outside of Shanghai said have been used as Opium tray. Very well made by a master craftsman. The wear to the top has created an amazing abstract effect patina to the lacquer. In one large area being worn through showing the black lacquer beneath the red surrounded by the effect of wrinkled red lacquer. This is believed to have been caused from the oil or gum of opium. Beautiful as an art piece and can stand in place on display. Signs of an old repair to one leg, not detracting an in good condition. Collectable lacquerware.
