Exceptional Chinese Export Gilt Black Lacquer Chinoiserie Decorated Lap Desk

About the Item

Chinese export, circa 1820. An exceptional quality and rare form. Featuring figural landscape decorations in gilt to the main black lacquer doors, which open to reveal 13 separated compartment boxes on one removable tray with an open area underneath. The front has a hidden drawer that reveals a green felt writing surface with several other storage boxes. Each end of the box has an original handle affixed.
