Showa Period Lacquer “Flower Basket”
About the Item
The artist calls this vessel a flower basket in the calligraphy on the box. Showa period (1926-1989) black lacquer container in square form with notched corners raised on a square base. Three brightly colored stripes on the side in green, yellow, and red. Signature on the bottom reads: Hiroi from Wajima. Wajima is a famous lacquer making city on the Sea of Japan. Comes in original signed kiri wood storage box.
