Antique Iron Foo Dog Censer

About the Item

An original 19th century iron foo dog incense burner. Well-fashioned in a standing position, wearing a collar decorated with bells. The large head with open jaws and curly eyebrows, framed by a curled mane. The body masculine with all four legs firmly on the ground and a robust upright tail. Removable head reveals interior space for incense placement. Open mouth and eyes allow aromatic smoke plume to escape the burner creating a peaceful scene with a sense of security. Foo Dog is historically believed to be a wealth and safety guardian. Censer weighs 4.25 lb. All original patina.
