Chinese Export Silver Tea Strainer with Bone Handle

About the Item

A fine Chinese export silver tea strainer for the Southeast Asian market, featuring a bone handle, late 19th century, China. The tea strainer crafted of repoussé silver with a design of phoenixes in flight and holding flowering branches. The strainer with a deep, pierced well. The handle made from a stained bone. Most likely made for the Southeast Asian Straits Chinese (Peranakan, Nonya) market. Unmarked.
