Pair Fine Antique 19th Century Japanese Meiji Cloisonné Double Gourd Vases 1890

About the Item

A very good pair of antique Japanese Meiji period cloisonné vases, circa 1890. This is a very handsome pair of antique double gourd shaped cloisonné vases, one with a blue ground the other with a burgundy ground, both having a lappet design to the neck, the tops and bases are extravagantly decorated with many geometric stylized floral devices. Each vase is waisted with further lappets, the large globular base having a broad band of 'Greek Key' design, each base also with a band of corresponding lappets and both vases raised on a circular foot. Both vases are in excellent condition, no damage or restoration noted. This pair of antique vases have a very contemporary style and would be great decoration in a modern or more formal setting.
